DAVIE is a Nashville-based singer, songwriter, producer, and performer whose music blends R&B, soul, funk, pop, and the gospel foundation that first shaped his voice. Raised singing in his father’s church, DAVIE developed an early connection to the power of harmony, groove, and live performance—elements that continue to define his sound.
Originally recording as James David, he later adopted the name DAVIE and built his career through songwriting, performance, and artist development in Nashville and Los Angeles. His musical influences span classic soul and contemporary pop, including Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Lauryn Hill, Pharrell, Beyoncé, J Dilla, and Mark Ronson. He describes his own sound as “funky gospel pop,” pairing classic funk rhythms and soulful vocals with modern pop songwriting.
DAVIE has performed at major festivals including Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and Austin City Limits, and his work has appeared in national placements including a Wild Turkey campaign featuring Matthew McConaughey, ESPN College GameDay, and Grey’s Anatomy. His song “Testify” became a standout release, earning widespread attention from DJs and producers before its release through Defected Records.
His projects include Black Gospel Vol. 1 and All in the Family, an EP shaped by family, faith, memory, and the sense of connection formed during the pandemic. In October 2026, DAVIE appeared in BMI’s Plug & Play showcase at The Basement in Nashville, continuing his work as one of the city’s active independent R&B and soul artists.
